Drs Fuad Tanha and Sami Kandalaft are continuing the proud Gloucester Family Dentistry tradition. Since the 1970s, our office has served greater Ottawa and eastern Ontario with exceptional dental care for the entire family. Proactive care for the entire family

The sooner we can establish a healthy routine with our patients, the better. Generally, this healthy routine involves recall appointments at our office, scheduled once every six months. During these appointments, our hygienists clean the teeth and gums. They remove stubborn tartar that cannot be removed with standard toothbrushes and cleaning products. Our dentists also examine the teeth, gums, jaw joints, and other oral and facial tissues for conditions like tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. For what cannot be felt by touch or seen with the eyes, Drs Tanha or Kandalaft use advanced imaging tools to pinpoint problems or anomalies at the earliest stages possible. Early detection is associated with less costly, time-consuming, and aggressive treatment and can be a lifesaver in the case of cancers. 

These visits also present opportunities for our hygiene team to recommend oral care products, techniques, and professional services tailored to your unique needs. For instance, dental sealants may be recommended as soon as children’s back teeth (pre-molars and molars) are visible in the mouth. The vast majority of cavities develop in these teeth because their pitted and grooved surfaces tend to trap lingering food particles. Sealants are thin and safe coverings that keep the “bad stuff” out to protect at-risk teeth from destructive dental decay. 

Additionally, we may recommend oral appliances to protect teeth and dental work from injuries caused by blows to the face during sports activities or from conditions like bruxism (chronic teeth grinding). These proactive efforts minimize the risk of developing diseases that lead to the need for restorative treatments or the extraction (removal) of an irreversibly damaged tooth.
